Work With Me

At The Sound Engine, community is everything. But we also know that finding your place within a musical community - and truly thriving there - sometimes starts with a little individual attention.

Working with me directly is about building the skills, the confidence and the sense of ownership over your musical journey that allows you to grow - not just in lessons, but in every musical setting you step into. Whether you're preparing for an exam, rediscovering a love of music you thought you'd left behind, or looking to develop the confidence to sing in a group, this is where that journey begins.

Who This Is For

The honest answer? Almost anyone.

If you're aged 8 to 80-plus and curious about music - whether that's your first ever lesson or a return after years away - you're in the right place. You don't need a musical background, a particular level of talent, or a clear goal. You just need to want to start.

Personal tuition with me is particularly well suited to:

Singers and musicians of any age
Looking to develop technique, confidence or repertoire
Students preparing for ABRSM exams
Up to GCSE, A Level and diploma level
Adults returning to music
Who want a supportive, pressure-free environment to rediscover what they love
Young people
Wanting to develop their voice and find their pathway into wider musical communities - including groups like the National Children's Choir of Great Britain
Complete beginners
On voice who simply want to give it a go

If you're not sure whether this is for you, get in touch. It almost certainly is.

Ways We Can Work Together

There are two ways to work with me directly, and both are shaped entirely around you.

What You Gain

Progress in lessons is measurable - grades passed, pieces mastered, exams aced. But the things people often value most go well beyond that.

Working with me, you can expect to develop:

Confidence
both on stage and in everyday life
A sense of purpose
The focus and satisfaction of working towards something meaningful
Healthy performance habits
Managing nerves, performing with accompaniment, owning your space
Connection
To other musicians, to the wider Sound Engine community, and to regular performance opportunities
Camaraderie
Especially in small group settings, where shared progress creates something genuinely special

My students have gone on to achieve remarkable things - from places in the National Children's Choir of Great Britain, to music scholarships at Winchester College, Bryanston, Canford and St Swithun's, to professional careers in music. But the measure I'm most proud of is simpler than any of that: people who came in nervous, and left knowing what they were capable of.

Never stop being the greatest musical influence my children have ever had.
