Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 29 July 2026

Terms & ConditionsPrivacy PolicyRefund Policy

Welcome to The Sound Engine. These Terms & Conditions apply to all lessons, workshops, choirs, events and services provided by The Sound Engine.

By booking or participating in our activities, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.

Bookings

All bookings are subject to availability and are confirmed once agreed by The Sound Engine.

Payment

Payment must be made before the start of the chosen activity after the introductory session has been experienced.

Your right to change your mind

If you book with us online, by email or by telephone, or anywhere other than at our premises, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of the day we confirm your booking. You do not have to give a reason.

To cancel, simply tell us — email caroline@thesoundengine.co.uk or telephone 07754 861874. Any clear statement within the 14 days is enough. We will refund you within 14 days of receiving your cancellation, by the same method you paid by.

If you ask us to start lessons, rehearsals or sessions within those 14 days, we may charge a fair amount for what you have already received, in proportion to the whole. Where the service has been carried out in full within the 14 days at your express request, and you acknowledged at the time that you would lose the right to cancel once it was complete, this right no longer applies.

Cancellations

This section is about missing or rearranging an individual session once you have joined. Your separate right to cancel a new booking within 14 days is set out above.

If you are unable to attend a lesson or event, please let us know as soon as possible, by contacting me directly or via our WhatsApp in the case of the Choir Engine Community Choir.

One to one and small group lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged at the full lesson fee.

Occasionally, lessons or sessions may need to be rearranged due to unforeseen circumstances or professional commitments. If the Sound Engine needs to cancel a lesson or event because of this, at least 72 hours notice will be given, and refunds will be given. If a session is cancelled unexpectedly due to illness, an alternative date or refund will be offered where appropriate.

Attendance

Regular attendance is encouraged to support musical progress and enjoyment.

Behaviour

We are committed to providing a welcoming, respectful and inclusive environment.

All participants are expected to:

  • Treat others with kindness and respect.
  • Follow reasonable instructions in lessons and sessions
  • Respect equipment, instruments and venues.
  • Help create a positive musical community.

The Sound Engine reserves the right to refuse participation where behaviour is disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate. Bad language and bullying will not be tolerated, and The Sound Engine reserves the right to withdraw participation where behaviour continues to be disruptive despite reasonable intervention.

Photography

Photographs or videos may occasionally be taken during rehearsals, performances or events. Identifiable images will only be used with appropriate permission. Parents and participants may withdraw consent for photography at any time. Please let us know if you are not happy for your image to be used by emailing caroline@thesoundengine.co.uk

Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by anything here.

Please tell us, before you start and if anything changes, about any medical condition, injury, disability or access need that might affect your safe participation. You are responsible for taking part within your own limits and for following reasonable instructions given during a session.

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these Terms or of our failing to carry out our services with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.

We are not responsible for loss of or damage to personal belongings brought to a lesson, rehearsal, performance or event, unless the loss or damage was caused by our negligence.

Changes to These Terms

The Sound Engine reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The latest version will always be available on this website. These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
